Why would Amir Shakkar agree to stay in such a miserable, damp place for nine months while suffering from rheumatism?

Despite suffering from rheumatism and the Chavadi's appalling conditions, Amir Shakkar stayed there for nine months out of complete faith and obedience to Sai Baba. Chapter 22 explains that Baba's command was firm, and no arguments worked against it. Amir accepted Baba's word as his medicine, holding an unwavering internal faith that this was the right course for him. This faith allowed him to endure the contrary external conditions and stay there happily, viewing the company of Sai as the 'Great Prasad' or ultimate blessing, which superseded all physical discomfort.
