Why were the Uddhava Gita and Jnaneshwari considered so important in the daily readings at Shirdi?

📖 Chapter 18

The Uddhava Gita (also called Nath Bhagawat) and the Jnaneshwari were central to the daily spiritual practices in Shirdi because they were considered divinely inspired and essential for salvation. Chapter 18 describes the Uddhava Gita as a book whose sweetness is beyond description and states that those who read it with faith attain God instantly. It even elevates the dialogue between Krishna and Uddhava as being better than the one between Krishna and Arjuna in the Bharata. The Jnaneshwari, a commentary on the Gita, was read alongside it. These texts, collectively referred to as the essence of the Bhagavat religion, were seen as the "platform for the highest spiritual goal." The merciful Sainath himself made them be read daily, underscoring their supreme significance for devotees' spiritual progress, as explained in Chapter 18.
