Why was the Shri Sai Satcharita written using the Ovi meter?

The choice to compose the Shri Sai Satcharita in the Ovi meter was a conscious one, deeply rooted in Marathi literary and spiritual tradition. The text draws a parallel, stating that just as the Anushtup meter is perfect for Sanskrit, the Ovi meter is ideal for Marathi. Most of the great, world-revered Marathi poetic works are written in this meter. By using the Ovi meter, Annasaheb ensured that the Shri Sai Satcharita was not only accessible and melodious but also stood in continuity with a rich heritage of devotional poetry, thereby effectively serving his mother tongue while performing his Guru service.
