Why was the 'Sai Satcharitra' written, and who was chosen to be the author?

The book, also referred to as "Sai Leela," was written to remember the experiences Sai Baba gave to His devotees while He was in His physical body. As Chapter 52 explains, its purpose is to provide enlightenment for this world and the next through the supremely holy stories of His true character. Sai Baba Himself chose Hemadpant to be the author, despite Hemadpant feeling he was devoid of specialized knowledge. The text states that Baba held his hand and caused this true life story to be written, with some inspiration coming even after He had departed from His physical form.
