Why was the Chavadi considered a place of great spiritual importance for Amir Shakkar despite its terrible living conditions?

📖 Chapter 22

The Chavadi's importance for Amir Shakkar was purely spiritual, granted by Sai Baba's presence, which overshadowed its dreadful physical state. Chapter 22 describes the building as dilapidated, damp, cold, and infested with pests, causing great misery to Amir, who suffered from rheumatism. However, he was commanded by Baba to stay there, accepting His word as medicine. This externally harsh 'imprisonment' became a source of profound internal companionship with Sai. It was a rare fortune because it allowed Amir to have Baba's vision (darshan) automatically every morning and evening without any effort, and on alternate nights, they could converse directly, separated only by a curtain.
