Why was Shama so confused by Baba's actions with the Goa visitors, and what was Baba's initial response to his questioning?

📖 Chapter 36

In Chapter 36, Madhavrao (Shama) was deeply perplexed by what he saw as Baba's partiality. He directly questioned Baba, asking why he would accept Dakshina from one friend but refuse a larger, voluntary offering from the other, thereby causing disappointment. Shama saw this as inconsistent behavior for a saint. Baba's initial explanation, as detailed in Chapter 36, was to reframe the entire situation. He told Shama, "I don't take anything from anyone. Mother Masjid demands what is owed, and the giver becomes free from debt." He further clarified his personal detachment from wealth, asking rhetorically why he would need it when he has no house or family life.
