Sapatnekar was deeply distressed because every time he went for Sai Baba's darshan and bowed, Baba would rebuke him with the words "Chal Hat," which means "Go away." As described in Chapter 48 of the Shri Sai Satcharitra, this made him feel singled out, as he observed Baba treating everyone else with extreme love. He couldn't understand his mistake and wondered if it was due to his past karma or his initially doubtful and argumentative attitude towards Baba. This constant rejection caused him great anguish, making him feel as though a "daily Diwali of joy" was experienced by others, while only displeasure was directed at him.
