Why was Sapatnekar so distressed by his interactions with Sai Baba at Shirdi?

๐Ÿ“– Chapter 48

Sapatnekar was deeply distressed because every time he went for Sai Baba's Darshan and bowed, Baba would rebuke him with the words "Chal Hat" (Go away). This caused him immense pain as he observed Baba treating everyone else with extreme love and joy. As detailed in Shri Sai Satcharitra Chapter 48, Sapatnekar felt utterly singled out and began to question his past deeds and karma, wondering if he had committed infinite sins to deserve such displeasure. His distress was so severe that food and water became tasteless, and he suffered from sleeplessness, feeling as though his life was a constant rejection while others experienced a "daily Diwali of joy" in Baba's presence.
