Why was Pundalikrao so distressed about a broken coconut, and how did Sai Baba comfort him?

📖 Chapter 51

Pundalikrao was deeply distressed because a coconut, given to him by a Swami to offer to Baba, had broken. He felt he was an offender. As described in Chapter 51, Sai Baba comforted him by explaining that the entire event was a result of Baba's own divine will, or resolve. Baba told him, "The Swami gave you the coconut—that too was only my resolve. It was by my resolve that the fruit broke—why hold onto useless pride?" Baba used this incident to teach Pundalikrao about non-doership and letting go of the ego, which ultimately brought peace to Pundalikrao's mind.
