Madhavrao, also known as Shama, was prompted to question Sai Baba due to an act of apparent partiality that he witnessed. As recounted in Chapter 36, two gentlemen from Goa arrived together for darshan. Shama observed Sai Baba ask for and accept fifteen rupees in Dakshina from one of them. However, when the other man tried to offer thirty-five rupees of his own volition, Baba immediately rejected the offering. This differential treatment—accepting money from one visitor while refusing a larger sum from his companion—was so surprising and confusing to Shama and the others present that he felt compelled to ask Sai Baba to explain the reason behind this action.
Why was Madhavrao (Shama) prompted to question Sai Baba regarding the two visitors from Goa?
