Why was Kashiram's eagerness to give Dakshina considered a 'prideful' obstacle? Isn't it a virtue for a devotee to want to give to their guru?

📖 Chapter 0

While the act of giving is virtuous, the text in Chapter 0 explains that Kashiram's underlying emotional attachment was the issue. He would feel 'very bad and tears would come to his eyes' if Maharaj did not accept his Dakshina. This reaction indicated that pride was creeping in, specifically the pride of believing 'I have the power to give.' The spiritual lesson was to purify his intention. Maharaj's purpose in bankrupting him was to dissolve this ego and make Kashiram realize that he was merely a channel for giving, not the source of the wealth itself. The goal was to eliminate his attachment to the act of being the 'giver.'
