Why was Dev so disappointed and convinced that Baba had broken his promise to come to the Udyapan feast?

Dev was disappointed because he failed to recognize Sai Baba, who attended the feast in the guise of a Sanyasi. According to Chapter 40, Dev's perception was clouded by a previous encounter with the same Sanyasi, who had come to collect funds for cow protection before Dev had even invited Baba to the Udyapan. This prior context created a "veil of Maya," leading Dev to believe the Sanyasi was just a guest seeking a meal. He wrote to Jog in distress, saying, "I waited with great effort, but no experience came." Dev later realized his mistake, admitting he had forgotten Baba's specific words that "two others will come with me."
