Dev was indeed very disappointed because he believed Sai Baba had not kept His promise to attend the Udyapan ceremony. According to Chapter 40, after the event concluded, Dev felt that he had waited with great effort, but no divine experience came. He wrote a letter to his friend Jog, expressing his confusion and sorrow, stating, "When I invited Baba with love, He told me, who had sought refuge, 'I am coming.' But it all turned out otherwise; I don't understand this at all." Dev had served three uninvited guests but failed to connect their presence with Baba, leaving him with a lingering doubt and a sense of being let down by the Master whose word he thought had failed.
Why was Dev so disappointed after his Udyapan ceremony? I thought Sai Baba had promised to be there.
