Why was Dev initially suspicious when the Sanyasi returned to Dahanu, and what changed his mind?

According to Chapter 40, Dev's suspicion was sparked because the Sanyasi returned much earlier than expected. Dev had told him to come back after two or four months, but the Sanyasi reappeared in less than one. This led Dev to doubt the visitor's intentions, wondering if he had forgotten their previous conversation. However, Dev's attitude shifted from suspicion to hospitality when the Sanyasi explicitly stated, "I haven't come for money; today we want a meal."
