Why was a simple bundle of powdered sugar so important to Kashiram that he would risk his life for it during the robbery?

📖 Chapter 0

The bundle of powdered sugar was exceptionally important to Kashiram due to a spiritual vow. As mentioned in the account from Chapter 0, a saint named Janakidas Baba had advised him to feed sugar to ants. Following this guidance, Kashiram made it a practice to carry powdered sugar with him for this purpose. The text states that because of this, 'that bundle was very dear to him, and he decided that whatever happened, he would not let it go.' His fierce defense of the bundle was not for its monetary value, but because of the sacred duty he felt in fulfilling the saint's advice, which led directly to the violent confrontation with the thieves.
