Sai Baba considers patience, or Saburi, to be a foundational virtue for a spiritual life. In the teachings from Chapter 19, he describes patience as "the manliness of men" and a "mine of virtues." He explains that this quality is powerful enough to ward off sin, distress, and poverty, and it averts calamities and fear. Baba elevates it further by calling it the "queen of the King of Good Thoughts" and stating that it and Faith (Nishtha) are like inseparable sisters. He concludes that a person without patience, no matter how scholarly or virtuous, is in a pitiable state and their life is in vain, highlighting its absolute necessity on the spiritual path.
Why does Sai Baba place such a strong emphasis on the virtue of patience, or 'Saburi'?
