Chapter 11 explains that for a worshipper who possesses a physical form or body, the Guru must also be in a physical, manifest form. The text posits that true devotion cannot arise without meditating on this 'Saguna' (with form) aspect. As long as loving devotion doesn't occur, the 'bud of the mind' cannot open. The chapter reconciles this by stating that the manifest ('Sakara') and unmanifest ('Nirakara') are not different, but two states of the same reality, much like how ghee is still ghee whether it is frozen or melted. As explained in Chapter 11, the scriptures determine that for a devotee with a form, a Guru with a form is the suitable path to devotion.
Why does Chapter 11 say it's important to worship a Guru with a physical form? Isn't God formless?
