Why do people often choose the path of Preya (the pleasant) even when Shreya (the good) is the superior choice for their soul?

📖 Chapter 17

According to the teachings in Chapter 17, people often choose the path of Preya because they lack discrimination and detachment. The text explains that as long as a person is obsessed with gold, women, and other worldly objects, and their senses crave these things, Preya will remain sweet and alluring. These individuals are described as being caught in the cycle of maintaining their body, family, wealth, and status. Even when presented with both options, a 'dull-witted person' is easily conquered by the immediate gratification offered by Preya and embraces it over the more challenging but ultimately beneficial path of Shreya.
