Why do even 'wise Pandits' fail to find happiness, according to the text's explanation of Avidya?

📖 Chapter 50

Chapter 50 explains that Avidya, or ignorance, is a powerful delusion that can ensnare even those who consider themselves wise 'Pandits.' While these individuals may be skilled in scriptures and possess great genius, they fall victim to a subtle form of Avidya: pride. They harbor a great pride within, thinking, "there is no other equal to me." This very pride is identified as a significant cause for their inner dissatisfaction and unhappiness. They become entangled in the ropes of thirst for worldly things and identify with their intellectual prowess, calling themselves wise but possessing not even a trace of true happiness. The text suggests that unless these foundational veils of pride and delusion are removed, genuine knowledge and contentment cannot arise.
