Why did the women who helped Baba grind the wheat become upset and humiliated?

According to Chapter 1, four women rushed to help Baba grind wheat, singing his praises as they worked. However, their minds were filled with greedy thoughts, as they believed Baba, who had no family, would surely give the flour to them. They were secretly planning to divide the flour among themselves, "building castles in the air." Their humiliation occurred when they actually tried to make four parts of the flour to take home.
