Why did the author, when he was a Magistrate, refuse to visit the saint Pir Maulana in Bandra?

๐Ÿ“– Chapter 21

In Chapter 21, the author, Hemadpant, recounts his personal experience as a Magistrate in Bandra. A well-known Siddha named Pir Maulana resided there, and his servant, Inus, persistently urged Hemadpant to go for his darshan. However, Hemadpant admits that due to his own pride and what he calls 'ill-luck,' he resisted. He questioned in his mind why he should be pressured by others and risk losing his prestige by going. As Chapter 21 explains, he thought such things and never went for the vision, only later realizing that one's good fortune must dawn to get the company of saints.
