Why did the author of Sai Satcharitra initially refuse to visit the saint in Bandra, and what did he learn from this?

๐Ÿ“– Chapter 21

In Chapter 21, the narrator, Hemadpant, recounts his personal experience while serving as a Magistrate in Bandra. He was repeatedly urged to visit a well-known Siddha named Pir Maulana but consistently refused. He explains that his ego and what he calls "ill-luck" were the reasons, as he thought to himself, "Why should I go? Should I be pressured by others and lose my own prestige?" From this experience, he learned a profound lesson: the company of Saints is not easily attained. He states that "unless good fortune dawns, one does not encounter Saints and Sages," and that this sacred union is only possible when God's grace is present. This personal failure to see a Saint who was nearby taught him the value and rarity of such an opportunity.
