Why did Sai Baba tell Bhagwantrao Kshirsagar he was being kept hungry? What does this have to do with 'Shraddha'?

📖 Chapter 4

Sai Baba's statement to Bhagwantrao Kshirsagar was a poignant reminder of neglected spiritual duties. As recounted in Chapter 4, Bhagwantrao's father had been a friend of Baba's and a devout worshipper of Lord Vitthal. After his father's death, Bhagwantrao discontinued the family traditions, including the daily food offerings (Naivedya) to the Vitthal idol and the annual death anniversary rites, known as Shraddha. When Bhagwantrao came to Shirdi, Baba, who identified with Vitthal, told him, "He never offers food (Naivedya); he keeps me hungry too." Baba explained that by letting Vitthal go hungry, Bhagwantrao was also starving Baba. This act of pulling him to Shirdi was to remind him of his duty and reinstate the worship, thereby honoring his father's memory and fulfilling his spiritual obligations.
