Why did Sai Baba ask some devotees for Dakshina but not others who were present at the same time?

📖 Chapter 35

Sai Baba's decision to ask for Dakshina was deeply connected to the devotee's inner state and intention. An incident in Chapter 35 illustrates this perfectly. When Kaka Mahajani and his skeptical friend visited, Baba asked Kaka for Dakshina twice but completely ignored the friend. When the friend inquired about this, Baba explained, "In your mind, there was no intent to give; Therefore, I did not ask you; if you wish to give in your heart, then give." This shows that Baba only requested offerings from those who were inwardly prepared or already harbored the intention to give, respecting the free will and inner disposition of each individual.
