Why did Sai Baba ask for Dakshina from his devotees when he was a saint?

๐Ÿ“– Chapter 14

Sai Baba's practice of asking for Dakshina, or offerings, was not for personal gain but served as a profound spiritual teaching. As Chapter 14 explains, the primary essence of this act was to instill humility in his devotees. Baba did not distinguish between the rich and the poor, often commanding a wealthy person to go and beg for the Dakshina from a poor person's house. This process was designed to dismantle the ego and attachment to wealth. He would ask for varying amounts from everyone who came for his darshan, regardless of their faith, be they Hindu, Muslim, or Parsi, making it a universal lesson in surrender and humility.
