Why did Maharaj cause Kashiram, a devoted follower, to experience severe financial hardship?

Maharaj's actions, which led to Kashiram's financial difficulties, were a deliberate leela designed to remove a spiritual obstacle. As detailed in Chapter 0, Kashiram had developed pride around his ability to give Dakshina and would feel bad if Maharaj didn't accept his offering. To counteract this subtle form of ego, Maharaj started a "barrage of demanding Dakshina," forcing Kashiram to borrow until he had nothing left. The purpose was to make Kashiram understand that he did not truly possess the power to give, thereby crushing his pride and clearing his spiritual path. Once this lesson was learned, his prosperity was restored.
