Why did Kashiram fight the thieves over a simple bundle of sugar?

Kashiram's bundle was very dear to him not for its monetary value, but for its spiritual significance. As explained in Chapter 0, he was carrying the powdered sugar because a saint named Janakidas Baba had advised him to feed sugar to ants. This act of service was important to him. Therefore, when the thieves tried to steal the bundle, mistakenly thinking it was treasure, Kashiram was determined not to let it go. His decision to protect this simple bundle, which he held dear due to his faith, directly triggered the violent confrontation where he fought back and was severely injured.
