Why did Dev feel that Baba had deceived him after the Udyapan ceremony?

📖 Chapter 40

Dev felt deceived because he had earnestly invited Baba to his Udyapan ceremony, and Baba had promised to come. However, during the event, Dev did not see Baba in his recognizable form, which led him to believe the promise was broken. As chapter 40 explains, Dev was deeply disappointed and felt his efforts were in vain, stating in a letter to Jog, "I waited with great effort, but no experience came." This sense of being let down, despite Baba's assurance, caused him to write to Jog, questioning why things had "turned out otherwise" and why he was left feeling so disappointed after holding onto Baba's word.
