Why did Dev become suspicious when the Sanyasi collecting for cow shelters returned to Dahanu?

Dev's suspicion arose from the Sanyasi's premature return. He had explicitly advised the Sanyasi to return 'after two or four months.' However, the Sanyasi was seen alighting from a tonga in Dahanu only about a month later. This quick return, which went against Dev's specific instructions, was the root of his suspicion. Dev doubted if the Sanyasi had forgotten their conversation or had another reason for arriving so much earlier than advised.
