Chapter 15 explains the interesting story behind Das Ganu's simple attire. During a kirtan in Thane, he wore minimal clothing, and the text reveals this was due to an earlier interaction with Sai Baba in Shirdi. On that occasion, Das Ganu was dressed elaborately in a tunic (angarkha), a shoulder cloth, and a turban, ready to perform. Upon seeing him, Baba remarked, 'Bravo! A bridegroom has been decked out now!' and questioned the necessity of such attire for a kirtan. As recounted in Chapter 15, Baba asked, 'Why the tunic, the shoulder cloth, and the turban? We do not need all that.' This guidance led Das Ganu to adopt a much simpler style for his devotional performances.
Why did Das Ganu perform his kirtan in Thane wearing only a simple cloth with a bare torso and no turban?
