Why did Bapusaheb Buti become so anxious and full of regret when Sai Baba fell ill?

Bapusaheb Buti became extremely uneasy and filled with regret when Sai Baba fell seriously ill because he feared the substantial investment and effort in building the Buti Wada would be for nothing. As detailed in Chapter 39, he had spent lakhs of rupees on the mansion and temple with the primary hope that Baba's feet would grace the structure. Faced with Baba's impending passing, he lamented that the mansion and temple would be useless without him, questioning the point of installing the Murlidhar idol if Baba was no longer present.
