Why did Baba say he couldn't give a 'mantra' to the woman who asked? What did he offer instead?

When a woman sought a secret instruction or 'ear-mantra' from Sai Baba, he explained why he could not provide one. As detailed in Chapter 19, Baba revealed that his own Guru never gave him such a mantra, despite his dedicated service. He states, 'my Guru did not blow any mantra into my ears, so how can I blow one into yours?' Instead of a secret syllable, Baba's Guru provided constant protection and nurtured him through his loving gaze, much like a mother tortoise cares for its young from afar. Drawing from this experience, Baba advised the woman to stop worrying and simply 'pay attention to me.' He assured her that by focusing on him, 'spiritual wealth will come into your hands,' suggesting that true guidance comes from focused devotion rather than a secret formula.
