Why did Appasaheb feel he was in debt, and what does his story teach about keeping promises to Sai Baba?

📖 Chapter 33

According to Chapter 33, Appasaheb felt indebted because he believed a one-rupee offering made by his family to a Fakir was insufficient. He mentally resolved, "Had I been there, I would have given ten times more." Having given his word in his mind, he felt he could not be debt-free until he fulfilled this promise of giving ten rupees. The narrative explains that a fakir, who was not an ordinary beggar, later came to him. However, Appa grew suspicious and, despite having money nearby, did not make an offering. This story illustrates the importance of fulfilling one's vows, whether spoken or mental, and warns against the human tendency to hesitate when the time for action comes.
