Amir Shakkar stayed in the dilapidated Chavadi because Sai Baba ordered him to do so. As detailed in Chapter 22, the Chavadi was an old, miserable place filled with lizards, scorpions, garbage, and dampness. Despite suffering from rheumatism, which was aggravated by the wind, cold, and uneven ground, Amir accepted Baba's firm words as his medicine. His internal faith was so strong that he happily stayed in these contrary conditions for nine months, believing that the company of Sai was the 'Great Prasad' and that everything would go well because of his obedience and faith.
Why did Amir Shakkar agree to stay in such a terrible, run-down place like the Chavadi, especially when he was sick with rheumatism?
