Why are worldly relationships seen as unreliable for achieving one's spiritual goals?

📖 Chapter 45

According to the analysis in Chapter 45, worldly relationships are considered unreliable companions on the spiritual path because they are often rooted in material concerns. The text posits that while a mother and father show affection, a son will ultimately be focused on the wealth he can claim, and a wife will mourn for her own potential widowhood rather than the spiritual loss. These relationships, whether with parents, children, or a spouse, are not seen as fully supportive of the ultimate spiritual goal. The chapter concludes that upon final reflection, only one's own self, guided by the Guru, remains as the true means to achieve spiritual liberation.
