Who were Sai Baba's earliest devotees in Shirdi and what was their role?

As documented in Chapter 0, upon his arrival, Maharaj was first greeted by Mhalasapati in the Khandoba temple. Mhalasapati then introduced him to his companions, Kashiram Shimpi and Appa Jagle. These three men became Maharaj's first and most devoted followers in Shirdi. They had a pre-existing custom of serving and providing hospitality to saints, Gosavis, and Fakirs who visited the busy village.
