This devotee was Laxmichand. His amazement stemmed from multiple instances where Baba revealed knowledge of his private thoughts. As detailed in Chapter 28, Baba first knew of his unspoken craving for khaja and later voiced Laxmichand's secret worry about an 'evil eye' causing Baba's cough. Completely overwhelmed by these proofs of Baba's divine, all-pervading consciousness, Laxmichand's heart filled with devotion. He then pleaded with folded hands, asking for Baba's continued grace and placing his head at Baba's feet, asking for his command and care as if he were an orphan with no other protector.
