Who was Ratanji and why was he so unhappy despite being incredibly rich?

๐Ÿ“– Chapter 14

Ratanji was a very religious, popular, and wealthy Parsi merchant from the Nizam's state. As described in Chapter 14, he possessed vast property, carriages, and farms, and was known for his generosity. However, despite his outward appearance of swimming in an ocean of joy, he was deeply unhappy. The source of his sorrow was that he had twelve daughters but no son to carry on his lineage. This constant worry made him feel that his immense wealth was entirely fruitless, causing him to be perpetually sad and uneasy.
