According to Chapter 21 of the Sai Satcharitra, Pir Maulana was a famous Siddha, or perfected soul, who resided in the city of Bandra. He was highly revered, and people of various faiths, including Hindus and Parsis, would go to seek his "pure vision." The author, who was serving as the Magistrate of Bandra at the time, was repeatedly urged by Pir Maulana's servant, Inus, to go for his darshan. However, the author admits that due to his own pride and what he calls "ill-luck," he never went. He harbored thoughts like, "Why should I go? Should I be pressured by others and lose my own prestige?" As Chapter 21 reveals, he later used this story as an example of how one's own ego and unfavorable destiny can prevent an encounter with a great Saint.
Who was Pir Maulana, and why did the author of Sai Satcharitra not visit him?
