According to Chapter 33, Narayan Motiram Jaani was a devotee of Sai Baba from the Audichya Brahmin clan. He was a householder residing in Nashik. Before he became an independent business owner, his life was one of servitude. He worked as a servant for another of Baba's devotees, a man named Ramchandra Vaman Modak. It was during this period of service that Narayanrao, accompanying his mother, went for Sai Baba's Darshan. At that time, Baba, having already foreseen his future, gave him the pivotal advice that his time of servitude was over and that he should pursue an independent business, setting the stage for his future success and deepened faith.
