Who was Mhalasapati and what was his role in the early days of Sai Baba's time in Shirdi?

📖 Chapter 0

Chapter 0 introduces Mhalasapati as a resident of Shirdi, a goldsmith by caste, and a devout follower of Khandoba. His most significant contribution was giving Maharaj his enduring name. When Maharaj first entered the Khandoba temple, it was Mhalasapati who greeted him with the phrase "Aavo Sai Baba," a name that Maharaj held until the end. Beyond this, Mhalasapati was one of three companions, along with Kashiram Shimpi and Appa Jagle, who made it their duty to serve and provide hospitality to saints, Gosavis, Bairagis, and Fakirs who visited the village. He was instrumental in introducing Maharaj to the community.
