Who was Madhavrao Balwant Deshpande and what role did he play in the life of the Maharaj of Shirdi?

๐Ÿ“– Chapter 0

Madhavrao Balwant Deshpande, also known as Shama, was a schoolmaster in a Marathi school located in a small house adjacent to the Masjid's courtyard. According to Chapter 0, he began visiting the Masjid frequently, where he would fill a chillum, smoke it, and share it with Maharaj. This simple act fostered a close relationship between them, and Maharaj began to attract Madhavrao's mind. Eventually, Madhavrao left all his other work to dedicate himself entirely to the service of Maharaj and the devotees who came for darshan. He performed this service without seeking any compensation and became a trusted support and advisor for many devotees, who would not proceed on important matters without his counsel, as highlighted in Chapter 0.
