Damu Anna was a wealthy bronze-smith (Kasar) from Ahmednagar and a devoted follower of Sai Baba. As described in Chapter 25, his primary role in the annual Ram Navami festival was providing one of the two large new flags for the procession. This was a regular vow he had undertaken for many years, carried out with uninterrupted love and devotion. The other flag was provided by the Nimonkars. These flags were taken in a procession starting from Kondaji Sutara's house and were eventually tied to the two ends of the Masjid.
