Damu Anna was a well-to-do bronze-smith, or Kasar, from Ahmednagar who was a devout follower of Sai Baba. As described in Chapter 25, his story is shared to illustrate Sai's profound love for his devotees. A significant part of his devotional practice involved the annual Ram Navami festival in Shirdi. For many years, he upheld a vow to provide one of the two large new flags that were carried in a grand procession through the village. This act, which he performed with uninterrupted love, shows his deep commitment. The other flag was provided by the Nimonkars.
