Damu Anna was a wealthy bronze-smith (Kasar) from Ahmednagar who was a devoted follower of Sai Baba. The story of his devotion is highlighted in the Sai Satcharitra as an example of Sai's profound love for His devotees. Chapter 25 introduces him as a great devotee and mentions that his story demonstrates how Sai wards off misfortunes and grants the desires of those with one-pointed faith. It is also noted that he was blessed with sons after receiving Sai's blessings, as he initially had no children despite having two wives. His devotion was also expressed through his annual vow to provide one of the two large flags for the Ram Navami festival procession in Shirdi.
