Damu Anna was a wealthy devotee of Sai Baba from Ahmednagar, belonging to the Kasar (bronze-smith) community. According to Chapter 25, his devotion was profound. A significant demonstration of his faith was his participation in the annual Ram Navami festival in Shirdi. For many years, as a regular vow, he provided one of the two large new flags that were carried in a grand procession through the village.
