Who was Chand Patil and how did he first meet Sai Baba?

Chand Patil was a fortunate Muslim man from the village of Dhup in the Aurangabad district. As detailed in Chapter 5, his first encounter with Sai Baba happened under dramatic circumstances. Patil had lost his mare and had been searching for her for two months without success. Feeling completely disappointed, he was returning home with the saddle slung over his back when he came across a Fakir sitting under a mango tree. This Fakir, who was Sai Baba, called out to him, inviting him to rest and smoke a chillum. This meeting marked the beginning of their significant relationship.
