Balabuva Satarkar was a Haridas, a performer of devotional music and stories, who was originally from Satara but was residing in Parel, Mumbai. According to Chapter 6, he was famous for his Bhajans, and this skill earned him the nickname 'Modern Tukaram'. He harbored a strong desire for Sai Baba's Darshan and was eventually brought to Shirdi by Kaka Mahajani to perform the Kirtan for the Ram Navami festival after his usual engagement was cancelled. He was a key figure in the festival's history in Shirdi.
