Who is Hemadpant, and what was his initial character like before writing about Sai?

Hemadpant is the name given to the author of the 'Sai Leela' book. At the end of every chapter, the composition is attributed to him, which naturally raises curiosity about his identity. As described in Chapter 2, the author plans to tell the sub-story of how he received this name. Before he came to understand the Satguru's greatness, his character was quite different. He describes himself as having been mischievous, talkative, cynical, and critical. He was arrogant about his knowledge, possessing a bad intellect and a logic-driven mind, always proud of his own wisdom and prone to argumentation.
