Who gave Kashiram a sword as a gift and for what brave act?

The Bombay government presented Kashiram with a sword as a gift for his bravery. The act that earned him this recognition occurred when he was attacked by Bhil robbers while returning from a market. As narrated in Chapter 0, the robbers tried to steal a small bundle from him. Unbeknownst to them, it only contained powdered sugar. However, this bundle was very dear to Kashiram, and he resolved not to let it go. When one of the thieves dropped his sword, Kashiram picked it up and killed two of them before being struck unconscious by a third. For this courageous act of self-defense, he was honored with the sword from the government.
